According to DailyTrust, a source within the Abuja Bureau of the BBC disclosed that they had received a letter from the Presidency asking for the interview not to be aired.

The source in addition, also made it known that the Speaker of the House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara, has equally made an attempt to informally persuade the BBC against airing the interview.

Nevertheless, all efforts to ensure that the interview is drowned has been fruitless as the source further stated that the network wouldn’t back down on its promise to air the interview being an independent media organisation.

The source maintained that the interview will not be aired by the broadcast service only if the interviewee, Aisha Buhari, decides against it. Even in that case, he explained, her voice, renouncing what she had said in the interview would be aired.
